Happy Birthday!-

On February 6th, Bob Marley would have celebrated his 52nd birthday. Numerous festivals and concerts will be held in honor of this event. If you can't attend any of these festivals around the world, then in memory of his birth, listen to at least one song of his, and realize what a great human being he was, and keep his music and message alive.


Release Dates-

The Peter Tosh Box Set is due out in April 1997, on Columbia-Legacy. It will consist of a three album tribute in conjunction with his estate (which was just given control to his cousin, Pauline Morris). The box set will include uncollected and unreleased material, as well as Tosh's many standards. (For more information about the Tosh Box Set, click on the Tosh Box icon in the left frame).

The Bob Marley dub album, done by Bill Laswell, is set for release on May 11, 1997. For more information on either of these albums, read about it in our January 1997 Issue. (Click on link at the bottom of the page).


More Bob Marley Festivals-

The 5th Annual Bob Marley Birthday Tribute will take place on February 6 & 7, at Henry's Coffeehouse in Nashville, Tennessee. The tribute will feature world/reggae music, with such groups as Mystic Meditations and The Djembe All-Stars. For more information about the event, check out their web page here. New Web Pages-

The Bob Marley Foundation/Tuff Gong have just launched their new web site. On it, fans can purchase Official Bob Marley Foundation merchandise, leave messages for the Tuff Gong family, and much, much more. To visit it, click on the picture below.




The incredible movie, "Heartland Reggae", that captured the unbelievable One Love Peace Concert on April 22, 1978, now has an official web page. It's director, Jim Lewis, has created the Official Heartland Reggae Homepage, which features downloadable video clips, pictures of such performers as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Jacob "Killer" Miller. The video is also available for sale at the page, and comments can be left for the director. If you visit, make sure and tell them that The Wailers News sent ya!
